The Diana Award Anti-Bullying Facebook Showcase

Yesterdays Anti-Bullying Facebook Showcase at the London Facebook headquarters was a very worthwhile event.  Bullying is an epidemic. It’s widespread and more than often damages lives so it was great to hear of all the good work The Diana Award is doing with backing from Facebook and the Department of Education. Hearing the experiences from young people that have been bullied was certainly tear-jerking but was offset by the experiences we heard from the positive support and actions of the trained young people that have become Anti Bulling Ambassadors. The Diana Award has trained over 33,000 school students to become ambassadors in over 3,000 primary and secondary schools. In their role they help educate their peers, lead on campaigns and shape attitudes and behaviours keeping their peers safe both online and in the real world. The programme has been recognised as good practice in hundreds of Ofsted inspection reports. We know all too well with the work we do, how important it is to help the fight against bullying that so many young people are experiencing. I would encourage as many schools and academies as possible to sign up to the free training programme at https://diana-award.org.uk/anti-bullying-training/
